Natural Gas Processing Short Course
VMG is proud to offer a comprehensive course on the fundamentals of natural gas processing with the University of Calgary Continued Education Department.
This short course provides a general overview of natural gas processing and emphasizes the design and operation of gas plants and related facilities.
Topics
- Physical properties
- Phase equilibria and vapour liquid equilibrium calculations
- Water-hydrocarbon systems and natural gas dehydration
- Natural gas gathering and plant inlet separation
- Sour natural gas treating/sweetening
- Dew point control and NGL liquid recovery
- Acid gas compression and injection
- Sulphur recovery
Distillation – Basics, Practical Application, and Troubleshooting
A detailed course that provides a review of basic distillation theory involving key fractionation concepts and control. A discussion on distillation and separation in various operating facilities follows with tower internals design guidelines and operating pitfalls shared. Troubleshooting of distillation simulations and actual operating distillation equipment using case studies to reinforce the concepts rounds out the course.
Understanding and Troubleshooting Processing Operating Equipment
Course is designed to provide operating and design engineers a refresher on equipment theory, followed by gaining confidence in understanding their unit operations current and expected performance. Field data, in conjunction with basic equipment knowledge, and computer simulation is discussed to determine plant performance. Specific performance issues will be reviewed with symptoms and root-cause evaluation provided. Tools for quantifying performance will be shared.
Equipment studied: Distillation columns, pumps, compressors, steam ejectors, heat exchangers, separators and piping.
Operating units examples: crude, gas plants, amine, hydro-processing , catalytic units, petrochemical units.
